Stretch Hummer driver from East Sussex gets arrested at VOSA examination.
VOSA inspectors have made a series of vehicle checks at theme park, Thorpe Park in Surrey. Stretch limousines and coaches alike were examined under the new regulations brought in by VOSA last October 2009, which specifically target unlicenced and illegal limousines. Senior VOSA enforcement officer Neil Barlow headed up the task force and found one stretch Hummer limousine carrying 12 passengers, and the vehicle not having a COIF certification. The COIF (Certificate Of Initial Fitness) is applied to vehicles that are UK converted and legal to carry up to 16 fare paying passengers. This vehicle did not have COIF certification and so the driver was arrested. It is thought that the limousine will later have a GV9 (not allowed to be used) applied to it and will probably be impounded. The owner of the limousine was unavailable for comment.
